The Mater Dei Betim-Contagem, opened on January 19, 2019, was designed following the same philosophy of service and care that the Mater Dei Network provides to its customers. In a built area of more than 42 thousand m², it brings together several medical specialties to provide care, bringing high-quality medical and hospital services to the western region of Minas Gerais. The hospital has a modern and sustainable structure, including 367 hospital beds, 36 adult ICU beds, 20 pediatric and neonatal ICU beds, 13 operating rooms, Diagnostic medicine with tomography, resonance, ultrasound, mammography, densitometry, radius exams x, among others, hemodialysis and hemodynamics service, oncology, pediatrics, maternity and 24-hour adult and pediatric emergency room.

As it is a mission-critical environment that deals directly with the health and life of thousands of patients, the hospital's infrastructure and communication systems cannot be interrupted. Therefore, it was necessary to implement a solution with the latest technology, which would guarantee the high quality of the services provided. Furukawa and its partner Uptec Construção e Tecnologia were the suppliers chosen to provide the entire network infrastructure of the hospital.

SOLUTION IMPLEMENTED

The solution chosen for the project was DataWave Furukawa, which allows intelligent and centralized management of the physical infrastructure of the hospital's data center. Installed at the Betim-Contagem unit, the management solution is integrated into the network of the Mater Dei Contorno hospital in Belo Horizonte, which also uses Furukawa infrastructure. “The two sites, located 35 kilometers apart, are being managed from a single centralized system, providing a centralized view of assets and ensuring high availability and security in communication, which is reflected in the delivery of quality services for the customer”, explains Rafaela França, Superintendent of Infrastructure and Technology of the Mater Dei group.

With an intuitive interface and automated controls, the DataWave solution software provides easy visualization of information - through dashboards, 3D graphics, etc. 
For the network management team, these resources provide security in the operation of the network, time savings, agility in the discovery of failures, optimization and, consequently, greater productivity.

In addition to the DataWave solution, the Mater Dei Betim-Contagem hospital installed structured Furukawa cabling, capable of supporting its mission-critical applications and maintaining its information systems and telecommunications services at the maximum level of operation, always maintaining safety. The concern with environmental sustainability led to the choice of green solutions - the GigaLan MAX Green CAT.6 and CAT.6A cables.
