The importance of correct wiring for security systems

As far as security is concerned, homes and  businesses have to be very well planned. The market is growing and changing, so the effort that companies make every day to protect all stages of the process, from video surveillance, intrusion systems, access controls, fire systems and technological integration, starts with assembly and ends with operation. Furukawa Electric, one of the leading global brands in structured cabling and communication network infrastructure provides the best quality solutions for these installations.

A large percentage of the failures that security equipment often present are due to the fact that the elements used to interconnect electronic security systems come from an inadequate or low-quality network infrastructure. This generates signal      losses, noise, or improper operation of the equipment.

So, how do you create an efficient network? When we talk about structured cabling, we refer to a system that integrates different types of services, such as data and video for security, and does so in a standardized manner, i.e., following a standard that establishes certain minimum criteria that ensure performance and management of the network. Implementing a structured cabling system is a task that needs to be done carefully.      Lack of planning, lack of knowledge on installation requirements, failure to take into account the equipment to be connected to it and basing the installation on the initial investment alone are some of the most common mistakes that are usually made and that, in the long run, can lead to problems due to a poor network that isn´t prepared for future applications and is difficult to maintain.

It can be noted that, in order to install a copper wiring system, it is important to know the different categories available and the applications that each one supports, the regulatory aspects of these installations must also be known.      A twisted pair cable transmits the information and energy (POorE technologies) through 4 pairs of copper wires. These pairs are twisted to improve cable performance because they reduce crosstalk effects, improving transmission speed and bandwidth. It is very important to use quality materials under a 100% copper concept, which will provide us with greater security and we will be aligned with current regulations.

Currently, those who require a robust telecommunications system, which integrates voice, data and video surveillance services, as well as control and automation systems, all in a standardized manner, have the option of using structured cabling, so it is very important to take into account current regulations which protect us from using low quality materials or materials that do not comply with quality certification levels.

In recent times, optical fiber has been gaining ground as an alternative to copper as a physical medium to transmit information. In addition to being immune to electromagnetic interference, optical fiber has other benefits, such as greater distances, higher speed and bandwidth, greater security and future projection. To make a network efficient, it is important to start at the beginning and look for the options that can best meet the proposed objectives.
