Intelligent Transportation Systems

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are systems that operate through various equipment interconnected in an optical communication network. They connect services like call box (emergency telephone systems), radars, cameras, variable message panels, traffic analyzers, tolls, among others, guaranteeing a rapid, secure and reliable interconnection. Through these systems it is possible to monitor highways, activate resources, control traffic, speed up the detection of accidents, emergency calls, predict weather conditions, etc. ensuring the support necessary for an efficient business operation.


The Optical Network Infrastructure for ITS allows all services to be integrated in a single optical network. Furukawa’s technology optimizes the occupation of fibers in the optical network, enabling a lower investment and allowing the release of fibers for future services and additional revenues.

High performance network (ultra bandwidth connectivity), high definition image quality in real time, speeding up the detection of accidents and making monitoring, warning and dispatch systems more efficient.
Promote highway safety:
Highly available networks - the technology adopted has lower probability of communication failure, because it is based on passive elements, and has a shorter recovery time after the occurrence of a failure, this networks are simplified and make use of less fibers with centralized management.  The connected points in the network are provisioned by a single equipment at the central, making the configuration/management less complex. The technology adopted improves the availability of the services provided to users and shortens the probability of  accidents.
Preservation of the economic-financial balance:
Solution with the lowest implementation, operation and maintenance cost - the technology applied has less active ports and makes use of small formation cables, which reduces the installation cost and time. With less active ports at the central, less occupation in rooms, there is savings in the use of space and reduction of up to 50% in electric power consumption. Besides the reduced cost for maintenance in active closures many kilometers away.
